Discover the ephemeral wonder of vernal pools with Hilltown Land Trust and naturalist Nellie Wilson! Join us for a walk in the woods where we’ll explore the rich biodiversity within vernal pools. From fairy shrimp to salamanders, these temporary habitats offer a unique and necessary ecosystem for some of our region’s most interesting species. This walk and talk will cover vernal pool basics and allow you to get up close and personal with some of the life in the pool as Nellie describes the fascinating ecology of these microhabitats.
This walk is part 2 of this years Vernal Pool Plunge. If you’re interested in attending the webinar the night before, see details here. You can attend either or both events, you are not required to attend both. If you plan to attend both events, you must register for each separately!
All ages are welcome to join this event! Due to the sensitive ecological nature of this event, we ask that you leave non-service dogs at home.
