We are co-sponsoring a historic hike with the town of Conway for their 250th Anniversary Celebration.
Join Conway historians for a beautiful 2-mile woods walk through the old Cricket Hill settlement and along the 1766 town highway to Ashfield. The history of the people and landscape of Cricket Hill will come alive as stops are made at old foundations, the last town poor farm, an old family cemetery, and 18th– and 19th-century road intersections.
Those who are unable to walk for the distance are invited to ride along in a horse-drawn wagon.
The tour leaves from the entrance to Conway State Forest on Cricket Hill Road at 9:30 am. Shuttle rides leaving from the center of Conway to Cricket Hill begin at 9 am. Car parking will be directed; please arrive early to park and walk to the starting point.
This event is free and open to anyone.
