Join Hilltown Land Trust’s new Community Engagement Coordinator for a hike at HLT’s Breckenridge property in Williamsburg. Barry Matthews will lead a gently paced hike around the property as we consider the work of American landscape artist Asher Durand. Best known for Kindred Spirits – his memorial portrait of Thomas Cole, depicting the late artist overlooking a grand vista in the Catskill Mountains – Durand was also an attentive painter of more intimate scenes, rendering detailed pictures of individualistic trees and rocks. In this spirit we will turn our eyes (and cell phone cameras!) to the many distinctive trees of Breckenridge, capturing small scenes of natural beauty.
We are excited to see many of you for the first time since March, and are committed to working together to protect our community’s health. Advanced registration is required for all participants, as is strict adherence to Hilltown Land Trust’s public events safety policies. Please see the guidelines below for more information.
The hike will be approximately 1 mile long and is of easy to moderate difficulty. Note that there are no rest room facilities at this property.
While we are eager to begin hosting in-person events, we can only do so with your cooperation. By following common-sense safety measures, we can work collectively to ensure the well-being of the Hilltowns while sharing in the fellowship of our community.
We have missed seeing you all in person these past six months and are looking forward to coming together again soon!
