After a whirlwind of activity preparing for this hike on the beautiful trail at Breckenridge Sanctuary, the event moved up the hill to Goshen’s Town Hall. The heat index for both Saturday and Sunday of that weekend was over 105 degrees, hot enough to be concerned about the potential for heat exhaustion.
Letting go of the trail and hike was disappointing, but replacing it with indoor gathering was a welcome relief. We moved to a beautiful, donated room in the Goshen Town Hall, where Karen Foster, Executive Director of All Out Adventures gave a wonderful slide presentation.
Each land trust that sponsored the event was represented by a member of their board- Joan Robb from Kestrel Land Trust, Marie Burkart from Hilltown Land Trust, and Tony Borton from Franklin Land Trust, and many awesome volunteers helped out. The food table was filled with watermelon, cherries, cookies, and beverages, all of it donated. Mingled with the smiles, interest, and activity was generosity: $800 was collected to support the important mission of All Out Adventures: to promote health, community, and independence for people with disabilities and their family and friends through outdoor recreation!
Thank you to everyone who came out on this hot day to show support for our partner organization and to everyone who helped and donated!
