We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with local poet JuPong Lin in the new book of poetry inspired by conserved land: Writing the Land: Windblown I.
This anthology features the work of poets writing about conserved lands in partnership with eleven land trusts across the country. Information about the land trusts and lands open to the public is included within each chapter as well as the poems.
JuPong’s poems were inspired by her visits to HLT’s Conwell property in Worthington. Our chapter in the book also includes original pen-and-ink illustrations, maps, original photography, and information about the land that inspired JuPong’s pieces.
Writing the Land is an attempt to honor nature and our relationship with it in a way that is as equitable and transparent as it is deep and entangled. We intend to be as inclusive—to humans and places—as we hope the mantle of protection that land trusts offer can be. Our work will never be complete but gains strength, depth, beauty, and energy in a multitude of voices.
